Empowering young scientists plays a vital role in nurturing the next generation of researchers and fostering a vibrant scientific community. Particularly, conducting training sessions for young scientists on lab animal science is essential for fostering a community of ethical, skilled, and knowledgeable researchers who are committed to advancing scientific knowledge while upholding the highest standards of animal welfare and research integrity.
Objectives
- To nurture the next generation of researchers who are passionate, skilled, and committed to advancing scientific knowledge and improving both human and animal welfare.
- To provide networking opportunities that can lead to collaborations, mentorship opportunities, and the exchange of ideas.
- To develop important skills and knowledge needed for conducting lab animal research.
- To provide opportunities to share their research experience, seek advice, and enhance their ability to solve issues related to lab animal experiments.
Nature of the program
Applications are now open for young scientists to participate in the Introductory Lab Animal Science workshop “EmpowerU” free of charge. Ten eligible candidates will be chosen to attend this session. Those selected must participate in the 12th Annual Scientific Sessions and International Conference of SLALAS on January 25th and 26th, 2025.
Eligibility
- Under 40 years of age
- Permanently employed at a local University/Research Institute
- Engaged in lab animal-based research
- Not participated in SLALAS events (Certificate course, ethics workshops, etc.,) before
