Eligibility

This competition is open to the following categories of people interested in Lab Animal photography.

• Advanced level students
• Undergraduates students
• Postgraduates students
• Researchers/Scientists
• Any LAS enthusiasts

Photo Specifications

• Maximum entries for the competition per registered student are limited to two (2).
• Photos must be the student’s original work.
• Only photos taken by digital/mobile phone cameras are accepted.
• Post-processing of the image is limited to cropping and color enhancements, including shadows and highlights only.
• Photo manipulation is not allowed.
• Photo submission must be in JPEG format with at least 300 dpi and a maximum file size of 10 MB.
• The photo must not contain any copyrighted material including artwork and other photos.
• Photos that show the natural behavior of animals are encouraged for submission.

Process

• The photos taken during lab animal handling sessions in your institutions or during the SLALAS certificate course can be submitted. When the photos are taken at your institutions, your immediate supervisor/lecturer-in-charge should endorse (through a letter) that the photo is taken by you and the date & the location where the photo was taken.
• SLALAS will not arrange a specific date/time for taking photos for the competition.
• If you plan to take photos during the SLALAS certificate course in LAS, the students must bring their digital camera or mobile phone.
• Photo/s must be submitted with a suitable caption and the entries without a caption will be rejected.
• Entries that do not comply with the rules and regulations do not qualify for the competition.
• Once submitted, photos are considered as a property of SLALAS.
• The student’s name who submitted the photo will be displayed at the 12^th International Conference and Scientific Sessions of SLALAS in January 2025.

Selection of winners

• All the entries will be evaluated by an appointed panel to select the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd entries under each student category.
• All the winners will be invited to the award ceremony at the 12^th International Conference and Scientific Sessions of SLALAS.
• All the winners will receive a Certificate.
• A price worth Rs. 2500.00 will be awarded to the student who won the 1^st place.
• All the other registered students who have submitted an accepted entry will receive an e-Certificate.
